The Barn at Friedenswald

Barn

We opened The Barn at Friedenswald as an Airbnb to our first guests on July 1st 2023.

It is a great place to relax and unwind. It’s unique and peaceful setting in the Northwoods of Wisconsin will not be easily forgotten. New yet rustic, the architecture of this barn and the related buildings is very memorable!

From a spiral stairway created from trees harvested on our 4.5-acre property in a reclaimed silo. Beautiful & know they unfortunately are not handicap accessible. Everything at Friedenswald has a story…and if you have time, we’ll share them with you!

It’s a large open space with a semi private bedroom featuring a king size bed.  The living room area features a comfy sectional.

The Kitchen has a full fridge, a ninja oven, microwave and two burner hot plate for all your cooking needs.

You are set up with fresh coffee beans, regular and decaf, a coffee grinder, & coffee pot. Plus a couple choices of high quality bulk tea.

We didn’t forget the kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and service for 8 and more.

Sit down to eat together at the table for 6.

The big room also features a double sided murphy bed. Queen on one side, twin on the other.

We also have a comfy queen floor mattress making this space sleep up to 7.

There’s a full private bath in this upper space, plus a shared lower bathroom that you will have access to as well.

dome houseThe Story of Friedenswald

It was the summer of 2018. We had no plans to buy a second home. After seeing this dome house on the market for several months Bob decided to go look at it.

I get a call from Bob, “Hey what are you doing tonight?  Remember that dome house.  I came and looked at it and we could meet with a realtor and see it. Can you drive up here?”  It was only an hour away. It seemed crazy and exciting at the same time. After all, one of the reasons I married him was so I wouldn’t get too dried up.

Needless to say, we fell in love with the place. “Do you think we should buy it?” Bob asked.  It was crazy and at the time I had no idea why, but I said, “Yes!”

It was going to be our cabin up north. A place to hang out with kids and grandkids. Here’s what it looked like then.
