I know it’s early and you may not have given Mother’s Day too much thought yet. This will be the third Mother’s Day without my Mom.
I can’t go back and change the past but I can encourage others to be mindful that your Mom will not always be here!
My family did not make a big deal around Holidays like this but I always sent a card, a plant or made a phone call.
One reason I didn’t do more was procrastination, if I’m being honest. My Mom lived 14 hours away, I had to plan ahead to send a gift!
If you are like me and tend to procrastinate, why not be proactive this year and plan?
Here are some tips to get your creative juices flowing.
-
Make It Personal: Consider something that reflects her interests.
-
Quality Time: If this is her thing, spend the day with her doing what she loves.
-
Express Your Gratitude: Sometimes, a heartfelt note or a simple ‘Thank you for everything she’s done.
-
Make a Memory Book: Fill the book with photos notes, and memories that she can treasure forever.
- Subscription Box: It’s a gift that keeps on giving all year. There are many choices out there from coffee/tea, books, gardening, and more. What are her interests?
Remember you don’t need to wait for Mother’s Day if you get the urge to do or say something sooner!

The truth is we never know when it might be the last chance to say, “I love you, Mom.” I wish I had said it more often!
These are some of my thoughts as a think of Mother’s Day!
